Thank you to the 400+ community members and students who attended one of the 5 sessions on April 4th to learn about the realities of poverty. It will take all of us working together to address this issue. We know that 38% of families living in Muscatine are struggling to make ends meet. These are not faceless people that we don’t encounter on a daily basis. These are people shopping at HyVee, these are parents picking up their children from daycare after a hard day of work, and these are families playing at our parks. Dr. Beegle challenged us to seek to understand their situation while suspending judgement, get to know their story, and see their potential. This is just the beginning of our community’s work to fight poverty.
